Snowbird Bento
"Perpetuating Cultural Learning Through Chant and Dance"
September 6, 2008 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Enchanted Lake Elementary School
$25 for members/$35 for non-members/$12 for students

We are honored to have Kumu Hula Snowbird Bento for our first workshop featuring keiki hula and chant. Kumu Snowbird has had an illustrious career including (2nd place, 2001) Miss Aloha Hula, and her halau, Ka Pa Hula O Ka Lei Lehua, placed third in the overall Kane division at the Merrie Monarch (2006 & 2007). Don't forget to bring your 'ukulele!

"May Day Share Day"

This workshop is a sharing session of ideas for May Day with presentations by HOSA board members and others. Ideas for songs and dances ideally suited for K-6 will be featured. Any one interested in sharing a song or dance should contact our secretary, Ruth.


Karen & Gayla
"Songs of Asian and Pacific Cultures"
February 28, 2009 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
'Aiea Elementary School
$25 for members/$35 for non-members/$12 for students

HOSA president, Karen, and vice-president, Gayla will be teaming up to present a variety of songs and dances for children from Pacific and Asian cultures. This workshop will target cultures evident in the Hawaiian islands. Join us for songs from the Philippines, Japan, Fiji, New Zealand and much more.

Marvelene Moore
"Experiencing Multicultural Music Through Movement and Choral Settings"
April 18, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
'Aiea Elementary School
$35 for members/$45 for non-members/$17 for student

We are thrilled to have Marvelene Moore join us for a workshop on choral music, movement games/Dalcroze, and multicultural music. Dr. Moore is Professor of Music Education at the University of Tennessee and she is well known internationally. She has published with MENC, has contributed to Pearson Education Silver-Burdett Publications, and has won numerous awards for her contributions in music education.
